Christian Kantz, a Wollspinner (lit. „wool spinner" (born 1764 Leun-bei-Braunfels, then in Landgrafschaft Hessen-Darmstadt (Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt, then a state in the Holy Roman Empire) – died 24 June 1840 Alzey, Großherzogtum Hessen und bei Rhein (Grand-Duchy of Hessen), was the son of Lieutenant Philipp Jacob Kantz, a Regierungsadvokat ("a lawyer who advised and represented the government" and who practiced on behalf of same) born c. 1735 place unknown, died in Leun-bei-Braunfels, Landgrafschaft Hessen-Darmstadt (Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt, a state in the Holy Roman Empire) 24 April 1779.
