Mrs. Helen Jesse Winter Aagre

Helen Jessie Aagre, 86, of Westfield died on Tuesday, February 12, at her home.

Born in Westfield, Union County, New Jersey she had lived in New York for a short time and in Europe for five years after World War II before moving back to Westfield.

Mrs. Aagre had worked for Corn Products Corporation in New York City for 10 years, prior to retiring in 1946 to marry and raise a family.

A graduate of Westfield High School, she attended Columbia University in New York City for acting classes. Appearing under the name "Helen Jay," Mrs. Aagre acted in off-Broadway theater productions in New York after high school.

She was predeceased by her husband, Curt Aagre, in 1987.

Surviving are two daughters, Dee Zeitounian of Westfield and Kim O'Connor of London, England; a sister, Ruth Livingston of New Monmouth, and two grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 16, in the Chapel of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Arrangements were under the direction of the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
