Retha M. Franzen, age 87, a resident of Sunnyridge nursing Home and formerly of 1421 Maryland Ave. died at Sunnyridge on Tuesday, May 3, 2005.

Retha was born on December 8, 1917 in Hayward, Wisconsin a daughter of the late Daniel and Daisy (Belt) Wade. She came with her family to Sheboygan where she attended school. On November 30, 1940 she was united in marriage to Sylvester Franzen in Sheboygan. Together they operated three taverns Silver Dome, Adams Bar and Hippo’s. She also had been employed with Thonet Chair Company. Sylvester preceded her in death on February 5, 1902.

Retha was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and the VFW 9156 Auxiliary.

Retha is survived by three sons, Russell Franzen, Steve (Vicki) Franzen and Mike (Jackie) Franzen all of Sheboygan; a daughter, Sherry (William) Dielhmann of Sheboygan; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and a great great grandson; a brother, John (Judy) Wade of Orange City, FL; a sister, Katie Schultz of Washington and a son in law, Angelo Delorenzo of New Lisbon. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis, two daughters, Helen Franzen and Juanita Delorenzo, and a grandson, Jason Franzen.
