John Daniel Wade, age 90, of Orange City went home with the Lord December 19, 2013, at his residence. He was born in Hayward, Wisconsin on January 5, 1923. John served in the U. S. Navy during WWII on PT Boat 340. He was a retired truck driver for Klein Cartage in Wisconsin. After moving to Florida he worked for the DeLand Beacon and Publix. He was a member of Christ United Fellowship Church in DeLand, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 114 and VFW Post 8637, both in Eagle River, Wisconsin. John loved traveling in his RV all over the country, gardening and his dog Susie. He also attended a monthly breakfast for former PT boaters and WWII survivors. John was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Myrtes Wade and his daughter Susan Boggs. Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Judith; sons Guy Wade of Adams, WI and James Wade (Barbara) of Carrollton, GA; daughter Barbara Jessen of Carrolton, GA, Evelyn Schroeder (Bill) of New Lisbon, WI, Kathryn Williams (Dennis) of DeBary, FL, Laureen Misilewich (Mike) of DeBary, FL and Maureen Scherer of West Allis, WI; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and many extended family members, friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held at Christ United Fellowship, meeting at the Clarion Hotel, 350 E. International Speedway Blvd. in DeLand (around the back of the hotel) on January 9, 2014 at 10am with burial immediately following at Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ United Fellowship, PO Box 327, DeLeon Springs, FL 32120.
