34th BG, 7th B Sq*, This B-24E crashed at Weed, CA 10 June 1943 due to mechanical failure - 4 airmen survived, 6 airmen were killed. Eyewitnesses survive today. This crash site was located in 2008 by Jefferson Aviation Archaeology.*Note - at the time of this accident, the 34th Bomb Group was a provisional training group based at Salinas AAB CA. It was later decided that the 34th would be deployed to active combat at Mendelsham UK.
