Dear Find a Grave Searchers,
Due to the difficulty in finding graves at the Enid Cemetery and Memorial Cemetery, I will not be able to volunteer to find headstones and take photo's. One cemetery has 6,000 and the other cemetery has 16,000 headstones. I was given a map but it was not readable. I went to the court house but the map was so large that they were only able to give me pictures of a section at a time and there were many pages. The last notice that I received from one of the cemeteries is that I could receive a hadstone search for $10.00 per person. That is after I had submitted 30 requests. Enid Cemetery has not yet placed any of the headstones in a computer. When they look for a headstone at Enid Cemetery they must go through many books to find where a head stone is. It takes a large amount of time for those working at Enid Cemetery to find even one headstones. I think that it is unfair for people not to be able to find their loved one's headstones but due to health situations I am not able to put the hours in that is needed for this situation. For those I was trying to help I am very sorry.
