" Shavey", Noted Sportsman,
Dies Suddenly

Otto Bollensen, age 57 years, a lifelong resident of this
city and well known sportsman, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday
at his residence, 52 Grand avenue, following a sudden illness which affected his hear. He complained of acute indigestion during the day, but had been in poor health for some months, although he went hunting Friday.
Mr.Bollensen, known familiarly to thousands as "Shavey", was born in this city, the son of the late Charles Bollensen and Mrs.Nannie Schutter Bollensen, both members of Old Local families. His mother, Mrs.Bollensen is still living.
"Shavey" was educated in the public schools of Mount Clemens and attended Zion Evangelical Church. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, and for more than four years was employed at the Medea Hotel.Recently he had been assciated with Harry Meyers, of the Palm Cafe.
The deceased was principally noted for his prowess as a
hunter and a fisherman., and one time iceboating enthusiast. He was a guild for many sportmen's trips during the past 30 years, and often related thrilling and interesting stories of lakeshore adventures. On more than one occasion he had narrow escapes from drowning, during summer and winter fishing,are once was seriously injuried when hit by a run away iceboat on a windy day.
On Sept. 18, 1907, he was married to Miss Eva Russell, of
Mount Clemens, who survives him. Also surviving is a brother, William, of Mount Clemens.
"Shavey" Bollensen was an ardent member of the Old Crowd of Mount Clemens, and rarely missed an annual outing.
The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday with
services at Hubbard funeral chapel.Rev.Jacob Wulfmann will
officiate, and burial will be in Clinton Grove Cemetery.
