Maxine Hodge Brinegar, age 86, of 397 Reynolds Road, Sparta, NC died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta. She was born in Wilkes County on February 23, 1926 to the late Luther and Izettia Cook Hodge. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wade H. Brinegar; two sons, Junior Brinegar and Wayne Brinegar; one sister, Kathryn Anders; two brothers, J.M. Hodge and Charlie Hodge. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Greene and husband Tommy of Ennice; two sons, David Brinegar and wife Phyllis, Kenneth Brinegar and wife Diane all of Sparta; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Rev. Frank Jones of Glade Valley; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Patsy Hodge of Sparta; four sisters-in-law, DeEtte Hodge of Vox, VA, Mary Ruth Brinegar of Independence, VA, Pearl Crouse of Galax, VA, Hazel Price of Churchville, MD; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Full Gospel Church in Sparta. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shiloh Cemetery Fund, c/o Walter Lee Hampton, 1173 US Hwy. 221, Sparta, NC 28675. Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta is serving the Brinegar family.
