Laura (Williams) Phillips was born October 9, 1911 in Sabine County, Texas to Aubrey and Sudie (Mason) Williams. She was always a happy girl that never met a stranger and loved to sing. She attended Alto High School. Driving through Alto while working, Jack Phillips stopped to eat and met the love of his life, Laura Williams singing in the parking lot of her family restaurant at the busy highway intersection, where she would sing to drum up business. They married May 16, 1936. They were blessed with one daughter, Jacqueline Sue (Sally).

Laura was preceded in death by her parents and her little grandson Hal (Harold Heard Bauer,Jr.)
Left to mourn her loss were her husband, Jack Phillips; their beautiful daughter; Sally Bauer, grandsons; Mark Bauer, Kevin Bauer, grand daughters; Staci Bauer, Kristi Smith (Paul), and Karen Bauer; grandson Hayden and many close Family and Friends.

Laura was a member of The Eastern Star in Cherokee County and A Frank Smith Methodist Church in Alto. Laura proudly assisted and served as Clerk in the office of her husband while he served as Honorable Justice of The Peace of Pct. 2, Cherokee County, Texas for several years. She was known by most and loved by all.
When family came for visits to the Phillips' home, they knew breakfast would be served every morning by Laura that would include homemade cat head biscuits, bacon, sausage and eggs with Blackburns ribbon cane syrup and her singing or whistling as you woke up. Her home was open to anyone and she always made you feel like you were at home. Hank Williams' old 73 records were sometimes playing on an old Victrolla. Most nights at the house the scanner was monitored. The beds were always warm with homemade afghans. I remember one Christmas all the Family made a cassette tape and I was small but one thing stuck...Aunt Laura said "just call me Minnie Pearl" and laughed with her contagious laugh! She really did sound a bit like Miss Minnie... Aunt Laura was such a bright light and a beautiful Soul.
