Barbara Jean Rogers Thumann, known to those who loved her as "Gaga," 76, of Winterville, Ga. passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. Her loving & dedicated sister, Sandy Rogers, played an active role in her life as her caregiver for the past 10 years. A native of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Thumann was the daughter of the late Floyd & Lucille Hester Rogers & was preceded in death by brothers, Lelan Rogers & Billy Rogers, & sister, Geraldine Rogers Houston. She was a member of Joy Baptist Church. She was also an avid breeder of Great Danes, of which two were national champions.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Don Thumann of Winterville; daughters, Vickie Gibbs of Houston, TX, Pamela Burke & husband, Alexander, of Athens, & Debra Calvit and husband, Larry of Dacula, Ga.; son ,Jimmy Gibbs of Columbus, TX; brothers, Kenny Rogers of Atlanta, Roy Rogers of Orlando, FL, & Randy Rogers of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sister, Sandy Rogers of Hull; grandchildren, Tracey Rogers and husband Rodney, Jason Hubbard & wife, Sarah, Danielle Hubbard, Timothy Calvit, & wife, Jessica; & great-grandchildren, Mallory Rogers, India Hubbard, Noah Rogers, Kalib Hubbard, Kendall Rogers, Bryanna Calvit, & Haidyn Calvit.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Shannon Hayes and Rev. Barry Black officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at Bernstein. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Hospital for taking care of Mrs. Thumann in her last days. Bernstein Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
