Julia Coutee Gallion is the daughter of Nicholas and Irene Coutee. Her siblings are Nicholas, Jr., Joseph, Clement, Nora, Leola, and Mary Coutee.

On February 19, 1949, Julia Coutee united in marriage with Calvin Gallion and is the mother of ten children: Johnny, Judy, Shirley, Doris, Mary, Clyde, Calvin, Rose, Ruby, and Henrietta Gallion. At the time of her demise, she had a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Known for her famous biscuits and pots of gumbo, Julia Coutee Gallion was a great cook and generous hostess.

She was a fan of the New Orleans Saints football team and a ardent supporter of President Barack Obama.
