Elizabeth Dodson Shaw, wife of James C. Shaw, died Friday evening at her home south of Orin. Elizabeth Dodson was a native of Troy, Missouri, was educated there and on December 21, 1885 she was married in that city to James C. Shaw. That winter she spent in southern Texas with her husband and the next spring came with him to Wyoming, arriving at Uva April 1, 1886. They lived one year at Uva on the old John Gordon ranch, then owned by the Teschmacher & DeBillier outfit. In the spring of 1887 they moved to a pre-emption claim near the Teschemacher & DeBillier ranch on the North Platte River. This was Mrs. Shaw's home until death called her. Seven children were born to this union, Margaret Irene, Clay D., Patti W., Paul N., Roscoe N., Dewey Bell and Ruth E. Five of the children, with the husband survive. Mrs. Irene Isaacs and Dewey Bell preceded their mother in death. All of the surviving children are residents of this county.
