French Actor. Among the famous roles he played there are the gengarme Merlot in the Series of 'les gendarmes de Saint-Tropez' and lieutenant Laverdure in 'les Chevaliers du ciel'. He played many films and around 40 of theater plays.

Film actor, born in Lyon, France. Though he always preferred stage performance, it was motion picture industry who shot him to fame. He is best known for his role in "Le Gendarme" series, with Louis de Funès in main part.

Marin was born in Lyon in 1929 and first he performed mainly on the cabaret stages. In 1953 he made his debut in "À chacun sa vérité" (Comédie de Saint-Étienne scene, Paris).

In mid 50's Marin was fully occupied stage actor, he appeared in e.g. "Nemo" (1956), "L'Hôtel du libre échange" (1956), "Le Baladin du monde occidental" (1956), "La Visite de la vieille dame" (1957), "Romanoff et Juliette" (1957) or "Tessa la nymphe au cœur fidèle" (1958).

His film & TV career started at the turn of the 50's/60's, the very first role was in Bernard Borderie's drama "Ces dames préfèrent le mambo" (1957).

In 1960 he first met Louis de Funès ("Les Tortillards", directed by Jean Bastia); in 1963 they collaborated also on "Pouic-Pouic" by Jean Girault. Girault is also the one who directed "Le Gendarme" series, where Marin played a role of gendarme Albert Merlot.

"Gendarme" series included 6 sequels, but Marin appeared in first 4 sequels only: "Le gendarme de Saint-Tropez" (1964), "Le gendarme à New York" (1965), "Le gendarme se marie" (1967) and "Le gendarme en balade" (1970).

In 80's Marin reduced his activities in TV & motion picture films and he focused on stage performance & also dubbing. His last appearance was in "Dva suncana dana" in 2010 (Croatian/French co-production).
