Husband of Mary (Southard) Embree.

Moses EMBREE (Jr.) married, ca. 1710, to Mary SOUTHARD, daughter of Thomas SOUTHARD, and widow of Edward SPRAGG. (Some say that she was Mary BAILEY).

On 14 September 1717, Thomas RIDGWAY and Moses EMMORY [EMBREE] were present, and made report of having attended the Quarterly Meeting as its representatives; Moses EMMORY gave in the certificate to the Monthly Meeting at Egg Harbor, N.Jersey.

The minutes of the Quaker Monthly Meeting of Little Egg Harbor (present Tuckerton), New Jersey shows a record of births of seven children of Moses EMBREE or EMBRO and Mary, his wife from 1711 to 1725.

Abigail EMBREE, dau. of Moses and Mary EMBREE, was born 18 December 1711 at Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. She married 1730 to Charles TOWNSEND

John EMBREE, son of Moses and Mary EMBREE, was born 12 Nov. 1721 at Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. He married Mary --?- and had a dau.
Lydia EMBREE, who married 1778 to Mr. DAVIS.
John EMBREE was an ancestor of Herbert HOOVER, 31st President of the United States.

Abington Monthly Meeting, in Pennsylvania, contains the following: 26th of 5th month, 1725, "A certificate was produced by Moses EMBREE and wife from Little Egg Harbor, in order to settle within the verge of this Monthly Meeting."

Minute, 30th of 1st month, 1731: "Oxford Friends having made application for some relief for Moses EMBREE, this Meeting orders each Particular Meeting to raise a collection for that purpose."

Minute, 28th of 4th month, 1731: "Paid to Moses EMBREE for the relief of his family in the smallpox, the sum of 4 pounds, 10 shillings."

Minute, 30th of 1st month, 1731: "Oxford Friends having made application for some relief for Moses EMBREE, this Meeting orders each Particular Meeting to raise a collection for that purpose."

Minute, 28th of 4th month, 1731: "Paid to Moses EMBREE for the relief of his family in the smallpox, the sum of 4 pounds, 10 shillings."

At Haverford Monthly Meeting of Friends, held 13th of 5th month, 1732, a certificate was received from Abington Monthly Meeting of 29th 3rd month, 1732, for Moses EMBREE and wife and daughter Martha, and the rest of the children.

On the 13th of 10th month, 1739, at Haverford, certificate was granted for Moses EMBREE and wife, for removal to Oley Monthly Meeting (in Berks County, Pa.)

Oley Monthly Meeting records, at Maiden Creek, show that Moses EMBREE produced certificate from Haverford MM, 5th month 31, 1740, and wife and son Samuel; and at same date Mary EMBREE produced in the Women's Meeting a certificate from Haverford
