Moses EMBREE, son of Robert and Mary (BASSETT) EMBREE, was born 16 December 1652, at Stamford, Connecticut.

Moses EMBREE married, ca. 1674, to Miss Mary SEAMAN, dau. of John SEAMAN (1609-aft.1695) of Hempstead, L.I., NY and his 2nd wife, Martha (MOORE) SEAMAN.

At a general town meeting held in Hempstead, L.I., New York, 1 November 1676, there was a distribution made of town lots and "To benjamen SEAMANS and Solomon SEMANS and Thomas SEMANS and Jonathan SEMANS and Moses EMORY [EMBREE] and Joseph BALDIN was Given 3 akers of land a pese on the Est side of Mr. SEMAN's lott." Cope, Gilbert, HISTORICAL HOMES and GENEALOGICAL and PERSONAL MEMOIRS of CHESTER and DELAWARE COUNTIES, PENNSYLVANIA (New York 1904), pp.431-432.
(Notes on above: A Timothy HALSTEAD sold property, in 1671, adjacent to John SEAMON's Meadow, at Hempstead, L.I., in 1671 to Samuel EMBREE. Moses EMBREE, Sr. married ca.1674 to a dau. of John SEAMON. Moses EMBREE married ca. 1710 to Mary SOUTHARD and had a daughter, Abigail EMBREE who married 18 July 1730 at Philadelphia, Pa. to Charles TOWNSEND, son of John TOWNSEND.)

In a census of the town of Flushing, L.I., New York , taken in the year 1698, the name of John EMBREE appears., and in the list for Hempstead, eleven miles farther east and twenty-one miles from New York, appear the names of Moses EMBERY and Mary EMBERY.
