The 1850 Census shows Catherine married to Henry (b. 1814 in Ireland) and living with their children, Ann (7), Henry (4) and William (1).
In 1860, she and Henry lived with Ann (17), Henry (13), William (11), Jane (my great-great-grandmother, 9 at the time), Samuel (6) and John (2).
The 1870 Census shows Henry and Catherine with Annie, William, Jennie (called Jane in 1860) , Samuel, and John.
In 1880, Henry and Catherine were living at 312 South 12th Street, Philadelphia with Anna and John. By that time, Jane/Jennie was married to William Smith and appeared in that Census as Sarah J. Smith.
Henry owned a produce store with George J. Toland, Jr. (Toland & Cowan) at 514 Market Street in 1870.
In 1880, it was listed as H. Cowan & Son (with Samuel) at 28 South Front Street and 29 Letitia (now South Hancock) Street.
