Entrepreneur. Mr. Ricard was the Chairman, CEO and son of the founder of the world's second largest wine and spirits group, Pernod Ricard. His father, Paul Ricard, first marketed the anis-flavored liquer in 1932. He studied business in France, Germany and the United States. After he joined the company in 1967, he expanded into international markets generating sales into the billions. The brands include: Ballantine's, Mumm, Chivas, Absolut Vodka, Martell cognac, Pierrier-Jouet champagne, Glenlivet whisky and others. He received numerous distinctions including the Commander of the Legion of Honour and Knight of the National Order of the Merit. His interests were opera and hunting. The cause of death was thought to be a heart attack. He is survived by his wife and three children.
