DANIEL TYREE - - to rest at last. A good old citizen of this county gone. Daniel Tyree, better known as "Uncle Dan" who died on the 3rd at the residence of his son-in-law, John Vickers. Uncle Dan was 85 years of age and among the early settlers of this county; a zealous worker of the M.E. Church, of which he had long been a member. Uncle Dan-- as he was familiarly called, was born in middle Tennessee about the year 1803 and emigrated to Arkansas with his parents in 1817 and settled in what is now called Hempstead Co. He was married to Miss Sarah Burnham, July 22, 1824 by whom he had twelve children. Six of whom are dead, and six remain. His professed religion and joined the M.E. somewhere around 1826-8 and lived a good consistent member till death, which occurred Oct. 2, 1888, in his 85th year, at one of his daughter's home, Sister Vickers. His wife preceded him to the glory land about six years, and ever after Uncle Dan seemed to be only waiting and anxious to follow on. So when the summons did come, he seemed to hasten to obey, and calmly and serenely lay down in the complete triumph of the Christian faith. Mark the perfect and behold the upright; for this man is at peace.
