St. George
Ellanore Cornwell Brauer "Grandma" passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. She passed with tranquility in her St. George, Utah, home with her loved ones and precious dog by her side. She lived a long and happy life, young and vibrant - even at 96 years old and her spirit continues to live on.
Anxious for the arrival of life, Ellanore was born in a hospital elevator on her way to delivery in Panama, July 3, 1916. Ellanore was a dedicated Air Force wife to the late Col. Lloyd W. Brauer, supporting his career ambitions and actively engaging in the Officer's Wives Club as a volunteer. She was also an outstanding mother, raising two sons, James and Richard.
Ellanore loved spending time with her grandchildren, three of whom are currently serving in the military, following in their grandfather's footsteps. Her involvement and commitment to the Air Force also led to her passion for traveling. The family lived in Turkey and Japan for numerous years which were their favorite assignments. Her husband, Lloyd, was a pilot and became base commander of Nellis Air Force base in Las Vegas, Nevada. Throughout his career when he was away on duty, Ellanore "held down the fort" thus, our family toast, "Here's to Daddy, hurry home."
Ellanore is survived by her two sons James and Richard, her daughter-in-law Ann, her grandchildren - Joshua, Ginny, Colton, Holly and Sherry, as well as several great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 10, 2012, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Boulevard in Boulder City, Nevada.
