Born in Mössingen, Germany, the son of Albert Beck and Margaret Muller, husband of Carolein Suzanne Ehl and father of Mathilde J. (married Emil A. Praetorius), Minerva (married James Carter, married John Grigas) and Alberta Beck (married J. Freiderick Schlotzer, married George Fiebe).

Husband of Marie L., widow of Karl Beck.

In 1900, Martin Beck, aged 21, a baker, was shown living on Evergreen Avenue, Brooklyn, NY with his sister, Christiana (Beck) Kunz, aged 34, and brother-in-law, Peter Kunz, aged 39, a truck driver, and their children, Albert, 12, Jacob, 9, and Barbara Kunz, aged 1.

In 1915, Martin Beck, aged 35, a baker, was shown living in Brookhaven, NY with wife Carrie S., aged 38, and children, Mathilda J., aged 6, Minnie A., aged 4, and Alberta Beck, aged four months. Also living in the household were William Dohrman, aged 17, helper, and Charles R. Weeks, aged 20, helper.

Obituary - Martin Beck, 85, of 13 Columbia Street, Patchogue, died Friday at his residence.

Born in Germany, he lived in Patchogue for the past 68 years. Mr. Beck drove a stage coach from the center of Patchogue to the Great South Bay in 1908. He also drove a taxi from Patchogue to Camp Upton during World War I. He received a 40-year pin from the Harmonia Lodge Order of Odd Fellows of Brooklyn, was a member of the Patchogue Lodge of Moose and one of the founders of the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Patchogue.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, of Patchogue; three daughters, Mrs. John Grigas of Amherst, N.H., Mrs. George Fiebe and Mrs. Emil Praetorius, both of Patchogue; several nieces and nephews, nine grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Moose services were held at the Pettit Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services were held at the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Patchogue at 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Daniel G. Fiehler, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
