Julia (Julie) Jurkovich, 97, of Chisholm, passed away peacefully at her home at Northland Village Assisted Living, Buhl, on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009. Julie was born on Aug. 1, 1912, in Chisholm, to John and Mary Paznar.
She attended Chisholm Public Schools and, at the age of 63, attained her GED. She was a cook at Conley's Café in Chisholm and was later a facialist and sales representative for White Cosmetics Company.
Julie married Daniel R. Jurkovich in 1936 and they were blessed with four children. After Julie married, her main focus and joy in life was being a devoted wife and mother. Her life was further enriched with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Julie was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters and the Croatian Fraternal Union of America, where she was an officer in the Juvenile Department.
In her spare time, Julie enjoyed sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, traveling and teaching traditional Slovenian cooking techniques to her children and grandchildren. Julie loved to be on the "go" with her family, seeing the most recent movies, dining out, and shopping to find the best price on the latest trend.
Julie will be dearly missed by her children: Diana (Paul) Kruchowski, Sandra (John) Hurley, Daniel (Carolyn) Jurkovich and Leslee (Steve) Maki; grandchildren, Paula Kruchowski, Julie (Phil) Olsen, Sara (Megan) Hurley, Brian Hurley, Jana Jurkovich, Kristin (Matt) Luke, Gregory (Julia) Maki, Jill Jurkovich; and her seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel; brothers: Anton and Tech. Sgt. John; and sister, Mary Pospichal.
Inurnment at the Chisholm Cemetery.
