Sitting Eagle, Simon Born in Bassano, AB March 1, 1941 Passed Away in Calgargy, AB May 5, 2012 It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of a dear Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandpa, Friend and Cousin. Simon leaves to mourn his loving wife of 35 years Josephine; children Leonard (Cora), Debbie (Elroy), Sharon (Keith), their mother the late Margaret Wolf Leg; Stepchildren Barbara, Donna, Blair, Dino and Audrey. Adopted Children; Stewart (Joanne) Scout, Fred (Pam) Rabbit Carrier, Lionel (Colleen) Two Horns, Terrence (Verona) Bear Chief and Velda Leather, Lawrence and Theresa Saddleback, and George Saddleback. His Brother Gerald (Laura), sisters-in-law Georgina Sitting Eagle and Roberta Pelletier, adopted brothers Agar (Fran) Wolf Leg, Ryan (Annette) Many Bears, Mike (Connie) Rabbit Carrier; adopted sister Annabelle Solway. Also, 44 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. Simon was currently employed as a security supervisor for the Calgary Stampede. In the past he was a manager for the Turbo gas station, he also drove bus for 15 years and served as a board member for Siksika Justice. He also worked with the Siksika Men's and Ladies outreach program. Simon participated as a Bareback Rider in the Calgary Stampede, and he was an avid Hockey player which led him to coach minor hockey for many years. Simon was a strong supporter to his children and grandchildren with their involvement in sports. Simon was a strong believer in our Native culture and was a member of the Crowfoot Drummers Eagle Society. Simon was predeceased by his children Malcolm, Selma and Penny; grandson Keith Jr, granddaughter Dale, great granddaughters Mercedes and Tahlia. Parents Simon and Mary; grandparents Jim and Alpha Jerry, Piitipi and wife; siblings John, Roy, George (Pius), Clara and Shirley; uncles Jack and George; aunts Edna, Mary, Nina and Rita. He is also survived by extended families, Jerry, Leather, Running Bird, Black Kettle, Rabbit Carrier, Calf Robe, Weasel Head, Scalplock and Crow Chief of Siksika. White Calf and Swindlers of Saskatchewan. Big Child and Red Calf of Sunchild. Weasel Moccasin of Kainai. Standing Rock, Windy Boy, Slim John of Rocky Boy, MT. Wake services to be held at his residence on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for family and at 6:00 P.M. for public at the Little Washington Community Centre in Siksika. Funeral service will be held at the Holy Trinity Church, Siksika Nation, on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Father Gerard officiating.
