Walter Maloney came to America, I believe, during the Potato Famine of 1845-1852 and settled in New Haven, CT with his wife Mary and children. Walter's daughter Ellen married Richard Connor who aquired an estate with a granite quarry in New Haven on State Street. The estate was run by the entire family, who all had their individual duties. Walter was in charge of farming the land around it.
Walter Maloney passed away May 11, 1877 in New Haven, CT., and is buried there in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
My GG Grandfather hand crafted this monument for his wife's parents (The inscription on the open scroll states, "Created by Richard Connor." *I also wanted to make note that I cannot take credit for the beautiful pictures of the Maloney monument as they were taken by a very kind lady.
