Actor. He is best remembered for his recurring portrayal of the stern Mike Bauer on the syndicated soap opera "Guiding Light". Born Donald Bruce Stewart, after serving in the United States Naval Reserve, upon returning to civilian life, he attained his degree in theatrical arts under the G.I. Bill fromthe Neighborhood Playhouse and began his career as a leading man on the Broadway stage. Upon being introduced to director Charles Polachek while attending a luncheon at the prestigious Russian Tea Room, he was so impressed by his dark good looks, slim physique, and articulate voice, that he took notice of his potential and arranged for him to begin a career in the television industry beginning with him appearing under his supervision per a leading role on an episode of "Masterpiece Playhouse". From there, he would go on to flourish as a notable character actor appearing in over 35 features; often typecast as husbands, fathers, relatives, playboys, love interests, cowboys, bailiffs, deputies, sheriffs, city slickers, detectives, reporters, retail clerks, waiters, chauffeurs, sidekicks, landlords, neighbors, curmudgeons, eccentrics, doctors, lawyers, aristocrats, salesmen, authority figures, sergeants, lieutenants, and patriarchs. He appeared in such feature films as "Carnival Magic" (1983), "Lost" (1983), "American Ninja" (1985), "Future Zone" (1990), "Rover Dangerfield" (1991), and "Listen" (1996).
