Obituary - Gustav Schmidt, 64, paint merchant, who in 1905 was Patchogue's first letter carrier, died Tuesday night at the South Shore Convalescent Home. He lived at 276 West Avenue, Patchogue. He was a Mason and an Elk and a past president of the Patchogue Round Table Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Charlotte A. Schmidt; a daughter, Mrs. Bernice S. Payne; a son, Lincoln G. Schmidt; a sister, Mrs. Anna Schumacher, of Tampa, Fla.; and three brothers, Henry, Edward, and Charles O. Schmidt.
