Catharine "Katie" GOODGE was bo rn 27 SEP 1798 in Uniontown, Fayette county, Pennsylvania. She was born near the site of the Opera House in Uniontown. Her parents are unknown at this time.

She was supposedly raised in the home of Uriah SPRINGER.

On July 6, 1817, Katie married William COTTOM II. Issue from this union:

1. Samuel COTTOM (1818 - 1890)
2. William COTTOM III (1820 - 1902)
3. Joseph COTTOM (1822-1823)
4. John Goodge COTTOM (1824 - 1900)
5. Elizabeth COTTOM (1826 - 1904)
6. James COTTOM (1829 - 1842)
7. Westley H. COTTOM (1831 - 1911)
8. Louis COTTOM (1834 - 1854)
9. Henry COTTOM (1837 - 1855)
10. Irving Hall COTTOM (1840 - 1916)

On October 5th, 1875, Katie' husband, William died at their residence in Tyrone Township.

By 1880, Katie was living in the household of her son, Irving Hall COTTOM.

Katie died on April 20, 1884 in Dunbar, Fayette county, Pennsylvania.

"Mrs. Katie COTTOM, died on April 20, 1884 at the residence of her son Irvin, near Dawson, at 10 o'clock, p.m., age 84 years and six months. Deceased was the wife of the late William COTTOM, of Lower Tyrone township. She was raised in the the family of Uriah SPRINGER, of North Union township. She was the mother of eleven children, nine sons and two daughters and five of the sons and one daughter survive her, all of whom were present at the funeral which took place on the 22nd. Six of the grand children, one from each family, acted as pall bearers. Reve. MANSELL, of Uppermiddletown, officiated at the funeral. The remains were interred in the Cochran cemetery."
