Monday Rites Set For Virgil Skinner, Bank Bookkeeper
The Peoria Star, Friday March 25, 1938

Virgil lived in Varna,(Marshall Co.) Ill with his parents Roland and Carrie. When Virgil was 15 years old he and his mother moved to Peoria, Ill. The parents divorced and remarried. Roland moved to Goldfield, Iowa and married Nell Hinton. Carrie married Floyd Ferguson and later moved to Cleburne, Kansas after Virgil graduated from Peoria High School. He was a member of First Methodist Episcopal Church and of the Order of DeMolay. Virgil excelled in mathematics and was hired as a bookkeeper at Peoria First National Bank. He lived at 223 Peoria Avenue. He had been out of work three weeks with a heart ailment. He died at 10:10 at the Methodist Hospital where he was taken last Friday. He died of complications from the flu. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Boland mortuary with the Rev. Dr. W. M. Briggs of First M. E. Church officiating. Interment was at the Parkview Cemetery.
