Nick met Sylvia (Slavica) Tomaskovic in Chicago and they later married on May 10, 1915. They lived and raised their family in the 18th Street neighborhood of Chicago. Nick was familiar with the old Maxwell Street markets of that era. He worked as a butcher for Swift and Company for many years. Nick was famous for his huge family dinners that he would prepare.
His wife, Slava (Slavica), preceded him in death passing away in 1940. Nick never remarried. He passed away in Chicago in January of 1965.
