George Gasper, 70, of Roslyn, died Monday at Pine Crest Manor Nursing Home in Cle Elum. Born in Gallup, NM on February 15, 1915, he came to Roslyn at an early age with his parents and received his education there.

After graduation from Cle Elum High School in 1933, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps for two years. He then went to work as a conveyor operator in the Roslyn mines and was there for 25 years in No. 9 mine. He then was a carpenter for construction projects until retirement in 1978. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hiking into the high lakes to fish.

Mrs. Gasper was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Eagles Aerie No. 649, Sun Country Golf Club of Cle Elum and SNPJ No. 56 Lodge of Roslyn. He and Mary Gregurich were married in Ellensburg on February 15, 1946.

Survivors in addition to his wife of Roslyn, include one daughter, Evelynn Cava, and two sisters, Josephine Gasperich and Katherine Archibald, all of Roslyn, and a number of nieces and nephews.

At the request of Mr. Gasper, private family services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown's Funeral Chapel, Cle Elum. Father John Marasciulo will officiate. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill memorial Park. Family suggests memorials to Roslyn Firemen's Association Aid Car or charities of donors' choices.
