HANOVER, Ill. -- Mary Eileen Zeal, 91, of Hanover, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover, with the Rev. Christopher Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover, with a rosary service at 4 p.m.

Eileen was born on Nov. 28, 1920, in Galena, daughter of August and Nora (Sanderson) Koehler. She attended Galena High School and graduated with the class of 1938.

She married Harley L. Zeal on May 22, 1946, in Galena; he preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 1992.

Eileen taught in a country school for six years before she began raising a family. She was a homemaker who cherished her family and treasured each one of them. While raising her family, Eileen did the bookkeeping for Zeal's Service Garage, which her husband opened in 1946.

She was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Eileen's favorite pastime was playing euchre. Gardening was also very enjoyable for her, but, most of all, Eileen loved her family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Mary Fobber, of Hanover, and John (Jean) Zeal, of Elizabeth; five grandchildren, Michael (Karina) Fobber, Connie (Alvin) Robertson, Lisa (Todd) Bonar, Jennifer (Kenneth) Kirby and Jason Zeal; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosanne (Edgar) Keleher, of Cuba City; and a special family friend, Betty Kundert.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, August and Nora Koehler; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn (Wilbur) Hammer, Calista (Albertus) Glasker and Helen (Clarence) Glasker.
