Rex, the son of L. D. and Lottie McFadden Adams, was born Dec. 15, 1938, in Paris. He graduated from Delmar High School in 1957, and remained close with his Class of '57 friends. He served in the National Guard, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, had served on the Delmar School Board, was a 41- year member of the Elks Lodge, a member of the Red River Valley Honkers and was a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course where he received three accommodation awards. Rex was very strong in his faith and was very patriotic. Following graduation he moved to Orange County, Calif., where he worked for Phelps Dodge. In 1968, he moved to Arlington where he owned and operated Campus Texaco Service Station.
The family moved back to Lamar County in 1971, and he owned and operated the Texaco Service Station at 19th and Bonham streets. There he started a rental business with his son and moved it to 1411 19th N.W. Street as AAA Rentals & Sales before relocating it to 3680 Lamar Avenue and then 2675 North Main Street. He then sold the business in January of 2001, and bought property on Center Street naming it Rex's Toy Box.
He loved his family, friends, bluegrass music and mowing. Rex spent many hours mowing multiple properties he owned and during that time he was able to spend time with the Lord. He had many, many friends with whom he enjoyed spending time.
