Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Swansea United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Smoak and Rev. Lee Cothran officiating. Burial will be in Melrose Memorial Garden. The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Simmons was born in Jamison, a daughter of the late Aaron and Rosa Mae Collins Ezekiel. She was married to the late Francis Marion "Simp" Simmons. She was a retired seamstress; and a member of Swansea United Methodist Church. She was a loving grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Amanda Simmons, of Lexington; two sons: and Oliver Pope Simmons, MD, and his wife, Kristin, of Columbia; and Lane Simmons, of Lugoff; a granddaughter: Victoria Ann Simmons; three sisters: Etha Bair, of Woodford; Jean Dantzler, of Santee; and Evelyn Jackson, and her husband, Warrington, of Aiken; a brother: Edison Ezekiel, and his wife, Shirley, of Lexington. She was predeceased by siblings Lee Ezekiel, Ergle Ezekiel, Earle Ezekiel, Eartha Dantzler, and Eloise Sikes.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North (www.mcalhanyfh.com) and other times at the home.
