** edit request for middle name "Edward"- his birth record gives his name "Ebenezer", 1880 census he is listed as "Ebenezer", his WW1 draft registration is signed by him "Marion Ebenezer Nuzum". His name is given as "Marion Ebenezer Nuzum" on the birth record of his daughter, Mary Lucille.

** edit request for nickname "Nimshi"- I didn't find anything with him listed as Nimshi

** edit request for DOD October 1918 in Marion co., WV- there's not a listing for his death in Marion co. in 1918- there is a family tree online that has his death as October 1918 but there are many inaccuracies in that family tree and I don't feel that it's a reliable resource

MARION F. NUZUM SUCCUMBS TO GRIP
Was One of the Best Known Railroad Men in This Section.
Marion F. Nuzum, a well-known railroad man in this section, died yesterday afternoon at half after three o'clock at his home on Chicago street after a several days' illness from influenza, followed by brain trouble. For several days his condition had been very critical with practically no hope for his recovery. On Monday night as a last resort an operation was performed to relieve, if possible, a clot on the brain, but it was unsuccessful. Mr. Nuzum was aged 38 years. He was a son of David and the late Mrs. David Nuzum, of near Colfax, the latter's death having occurred a few months ago. He was united in marriage with Miss Jessie Dick, a daughter of Major and Mrs. A. J. Dick, of this city, who survives him with three children, Lucile, Ralph, and Lawrence. His father and one brother, Bailey Nuzum, and six sisters also survive. The sisters are Mrs. U. S. Linn., of near Colfax; Mrs. Chas. Carpenter, of Tucker county; Mrs. J. R. Varner, Mrs. Robt. Graham, Mrs. Melvin Squires, of Masontown, W. Va.; Mrs. Chas. Vincent, of Shinnston. Two brothers, Martin and Banks, are deceased. Mr. Nuzum who was familiarly known among his associates as "Nimshi" had been in the employ of the B. and O. for the greater part of his life. Several years ago he became yardmaster in this city and during the past summer was made yardmaster at Grafton. He came here several weeks ago to assume temporary charge during the absence of his brother who is Fairmont yardmaster. While here he was taken ill. His family who had accompanied him to Grafton, also returned here not having permanently located in that city. The deceased was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, the Marion Lodge No. 27, K. of P., and the Fairmont Lodge of Elks. He was a man of splendid personality and in his home was a devoted husband and father. His death is sincerely deplored by his associates and has caused the deepest sorrow in his home. Funeral services in the open air are announced to be held on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Woodlawn cemetery under the direction of the Elks. Interment will be made by Undertaker Jenkins. Published in The (Fairmont) West Virginian, Wednesday, 9 October 1918, page 3. Transcribed by Tom Brocher on 31 August 2022.
