Hoot was a 45-year member of Holly Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and chaired the board of deacons for 20 years.
He also served in the United States Army and was employed by the General Laxtex & Chemical Corporation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Myrtle Morris Hogan; brothers, S.L., Will, Lloyd and Earl Hogan; sisters, Sybil Bowers any Mary Lee Smith; sister-in-law, Jo Hogan; brothers-in-law, Gene Hannah, Jim Kittles, Odele Bowers, and Jerry Smith and parents-in-law, Ernest and Ruth Wilbanks Stone.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Hazel Patricia Stone Hogan of Chatsworth; daughter, Tracie Hogan of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oran Hogan of Chatsworth, Emmett and Bobbie Hogan of Chatsworth, Robert and Trudy Morris of Eton, Carol Kittles of Spring Place, Peggy Hogan of Dalton, Louise Hogan of Eton, Linda Hogan of Eton, and Geraldine Hogan Works of Polk County, TN; sister, Evelyn Hannah; nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Boys "Hoot" Hogan was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Holly Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Cochran and the Rev. Walter Hare officating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Peeples Funeral Home of Chatsworth was in charge of the arrangements.
