Holoke: Phelim Ginty, age 69, of Holyoke and New Port Richey, Florida, died Friday, December 28, 2007 at his home in Holyoke. He was born in Doohoma, County Mayo, Ireland, son of the late Michael and Mary (Cusak) Ginty and was educated in schools in Ireland. He had lived here since 1959, and worked at Nonotuck Wire and Cable Co. in South Hadley and Hampden Paper Company in Holyoke, retiring in 2002. Phelim was a member of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club in Springfield, and had been Vice President of Magnolia Valley Condo Association in Florida. He is survived by his son Michael J. Ginty of Holyoke, his daughter Mary Frances Ginty-Greaney and husband Thomas of Holyoke, three grandchildren: Eileen, Annie and John Greaney of Holyoke, three brothers; Patrick of Holyoke, Daniel of Ireland and Terence of England, eight sisters; Nora Ginty-Meenaghan of England, Mary Ginty-McCormick, Pauline Ginty-Connelly, Eileen Ginty, Ann Ginty-Dugan, and Margaret Ginty-McDonnell, all of Ireland, Kathleen Ginty-O'Shea of Springfield, and Theresa Ginty-Begley of West Springfield, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers; Michael, Peter, and William Ginty, and a sister Sheila Ginty. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00. Burial will be in Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament School, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.

I attended his marriage and Wedding Reception to Anne C. Mangan on 25 July, 1964 at Sacred Heart Church in Holyoke. Anne C. Mangan-Ginty was the niece of Mr. and Mrs. William Reilly and was living on Walnut Street. Phelim was living, at the time of his wedding, on Bowers Street.
