The service will be held at David Haas Memorial United Methodist Church in Bunkie at 11:00 am with Rev. Joe Hoover and Rev. Larry O'Dell officiating. Burial will follow in Pythian Cemetery and arrangements have been trusted to Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.
Mrs. Carruth's family includes her son, William M. Tebow and wife, Joan, of Bunkie; her daughter, Donna T Taylor and husband, Dr. Wayne Taylor, of Dallas; four grandchildren, Dr. Bryan Taylor and wife, Dr. Georgia Taylor, Andrew Taylor and wife, Pamela, Katie T. Warren and husband, Brian and Celeste Tebow and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Edward T. Carruth and her brother, Franklin Haas Mikell.
Mrs. Carruth was born in Alexandria LA to Franklin Trezevant Mikell and Nanie Haas Mikell. They lived in Bunkie at Oak Hall Plantation and she graduated valedictorian from Bunkie High School. She was awarded a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Centenary College.
Nancy served on numerous international, national, state and local boards, committees and conferences. She served on the Executive Commission of the World Methodist Council; Africa University Development Committee; General Conference on Finance and Administration and chairman of Investment Committee; General Board of Higher Education and Ministry and President of Higher Education Development; Life Trustee of United Methodist Higher Education Foundation; Perkins School of Theology - SMU Board; Centenary College of Shreveport Board and Chairman of Academic Affairs; Colorado Board member of the YMCA of the Rockies; served on the Methodist Children's Home Board in Ruston; Lydia Patterson School in El Paso, Texas; Mt Sequoyah Assembly in Fayetteville, Arkansas; elected delegate to seven General and Jurisdictional Conferences of the Methodist Church, leading the LA Conference Delegation 1988; Member of Commissioners at Bunkie General Hospital and a member of its Pink Ladies Auxiliary; Bunkie Service League; served on Board of Wesley Center; honored by the Higher Education Foundation and Centenary College by establishing the Nancy M. Carruth Scholarship Fund and Conference Officer and Editor of United Methodist Women.
