He was born in Florence County a son of the late Virginia Holloman and Johnny Lee Young. He grew up in Timmonsville with his Aunt and Uncle Louise and Perry Hickson. He later moved to Washington, DC. He attended the public schools of Washington, DC and graduated from Eastern High School. He pursued a degree at Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, NC. His lifelong career was as a professional Basketball Coach. He returned to Timmonsville and became a member of Zion Temple Holiness Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Zenobia, Krista and Teresa; a son, Jamie: step mother, Eula Young; two sisters, Gail Young and Audrey A. Hickson; a brother, George "Frenchie" Hickson; a great aunt, Mrs. Elease Scipio; God Mother, Mrs. Kate Beard; several special cousins; numerous other relatives and friends.
