After an illness of several months, Mrs. Rebecca Palmer Johnston passed away yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of her son Alvin G. Johnston, a mile and a half south of Milan. Death was due to hardening of the liver.

Deceased, whose maiden name was Miss Rebecca Palmer, was born Jan. 31, 1854, in Greensburgh, Pa., and came to Illinois with her parents when but three years of age. She was united in marriage to Thomas Y. Johnston, Feb. 24, 1874. He died Aug. 19, 1881. Four children were born to the union, two passing away in infancy and Mrs. Ada Smith dying in 1891. One son, Alvin, three grandchildren and the following four brothers survive: John, James and George Palmer, Milan; and Isaac Palmer, Bondurant, Iowa. Mrs. Johnston was a life long member of the Methodist church at Milan and was especially active in the MWB society.
