She passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center. Josefa was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Musquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. She married Timoteo Albiar on Sept. 26, 1938, in Coahuila, Mexico. He passed away Feb. 19, 1994.
Josefa was preceded in death by her parents, Benancio and Rosa Olguin Maldonado; daughter, Dora Elia Garza; sister, Aurora Perez; brother, Emilio Maldonado; three granddaughters, Angelita, Christina and Leticia Calvillo; and a great-granddaughter, Alondra Ortiz.
Those left to cherish her memories are two sons, Pete (Adeline) and Joe Luis (Yvette) of Lubbock; five daughters, Lupe (Manuel II) Reyna, Sara (Basilio) Perez, Jamie (Juventino) Calvillo, and Josie (Richard) Perez of Lubbock, and Rose (Joe) Gonzales of Austin; brother, Gilberto Maldonado of Tracy, Calif.; sister, Olivia Perez of McAllen; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Josefa was a strong believer in God and placed those beliefs in her children and family. She, along with her husband, dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren in the steadfast example of God, instilling in them a strong faith and love of the Lord. We will always love and cherish her forever.
