On 15 May 1910, Gust arrived in New York with his parents, Friedrich and Eva Brickman Ring, and his sister Helena and brother Carl. They left the Kuban river area of the North Caucus region of southern Russia.
They relocated to the town of New Leipzig, North Dakota, and before Friedrich could settle his family, he died 14 Oct 1910.
Gust met and married Lydia Kafton in Nov 1919, and they had children; Vera L, Dorothy E, Eva K, Edwin L, Raymond W, Bennie G, Betty Ann, Vivian M, and Darlene G Ring.
