Christian, a schoolmaster, was the son of Hans Urich Bergey & Mary Reiff Clemens. He had ten siblings; John Barkey, Michael, Isaac, Samuel, Abraham, Mary, Anna Maria, Elizabeth, Anna, Fronica & Salome. He was the husband of Mary, b. 1743. He and Mary had eleven children; Christian, Abraham, Mary, Jacob, Margaret, Catherine, Sarah, Barbara, Anna, Rev. John and Elizabeth. The Bergey name was also often spelled Berge.
