Ray Chancellor
TECUMSEH, Ray Chancellor, 77, Shawnee, died Sunday morning in a local hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cooper Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Larry D. Sparks, pastor of Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church, and the Rev. M. C. Walter, pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Shawnee, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Garden.
Mr. Chancellor was born Nov. 14, 1903, in Shawnee. He was reared on a farm and attended Valley Grove School northwest of Shawnee. He was a farmer and rancher for 60 years. He also worked for 25 years with the Pottawatomie County District I in road maintenance.
He was united in marriage to Ora Roberts Jan. 6, 1924, in the Roberts family home west of Shawnee. He was a member of Blackburn Chapel and a past president of the Shawnee Round Up Club and the Shawnee Saddle Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Chancellor, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Jeanne Chancellor, 4404 N. Pottenger; foster daughter, Joan Long, Spencer; one grandson, Mike Chancellor, 4404 N. Pottenger; foster grandson, Ronnie Wiebe, Hydro; two foster great-grandchildren, Wendi Jo and Stephanie Wiebe, Hydro; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Grover Dunkin, 422 W. Franklin; brother and sister-in-law, Orville (Buck) and Mabel Chancellor, Rt. 4; half brother, Jess Chancellor, Grass Valley, Calif.; sister-in-law, Marie Chancellor, 2418 Ellis Drive and several nieces and nephews.
