Richard M. White, a Sherman Oaks trial attorney who specialized in personal injury cases, has died at a Burbank hospital at age 61. A longtime North Hollywood resident, White died July 20 of heart failure, said his uncle, Sam White.

Born in Los Angeles, White grew up in the San Fernando Valley. His father, Jules J. White, produced and/or directed many of the "Three Stooges" comedies. Richard White served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War and graduated from USC and Southwestern University School of Law. In the early 1960s, he began practicing law in Sherman Oaks, first as partner in a law firm and later on his own. White continued to practice law until the time of his death.

An avid outdoorsman, White enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his sons, Brian White of Canoga Park and Michael White of Avalon; and daughter, Blayney White of San Francisco.

A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Los Angeles National Cemetery, 950 Sepulveda Blvd., in West Los Angeles.

The Alpha Cremation Society in Burbank is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in White's name to the City of Hope.
