Genoveva Z. Barrera, 74, of Lubbock went to be with the Lord on Sunday January 29, 2012. Genoveva was born on February 28, 1937 to Pioquinto and Andrea Zamora in Karnes City, Texas. She married Roberto R. Barrera on May 20, 1953. Her life passion was her children and her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Roberto R. Barrera; her children, Maria Montes, Roberto Z. Barrera, Jose Luis Barrera, Toni Barrera, Rick Barrera and Susan Moreno all of Lubbock; three sisters, Modesta Navarrete of Olton, Francisca Cantu of Tahoka and Julia Gutierrez of Dumas; 13 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Barrera and daughter, Mary Lou Robles.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.

Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday Feb. 2, 2012 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Jason Montes, Isaiah Barrera, Javier Pineda, Bobby Barrera, Marcus and Daniel Moreno.
