DUBLIN — Funeral services for Jeanette Avant, 78, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Paul Wilkes will officiate.
Mrs. Avant was born on July 8, 1925 and was a native of Laurens County, Georgia, was of the Baptist faith and was a retired presser for J.P. Stevens and Oxford Manufacturing Company. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, David Alligood and Dona Ussery; and her daughter, Patsy Garrett. Mrs. Avant died early Thursday morning at Shamrock Nursing Home.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne(Connie) Avant of Dublin and Don Avant of Augusta; three brothers, Randall Alligood of Dublin, Gary Alligood of Dublin and Ray Alligood of Orlando, Florida; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Otis Cook, Charles Garrett, John Powell Jr., Barry Joiner, Terry Avant and David Hanson.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
