John Clark with his oldest son Jim came to Alberta from Ontario in 1903. They took up homesteads in the area later known as Kanata. They returned to Ontario. After Jim married Ella Campbell they returned to Alberta. They came with John's oldest daughter Martha and her husband Eugene Barrett and their two children. They built a log cabin that they lived in it for several years. Jim and Martha were followed by John, Margaret (McIntyre) and their sons Archie and Duncan and daughters Mary Ellen (Mame Proctor) and Gretta (Wright). Victoria (Hoople) stayed behind in Ontario. They came by train. John brought the first mechanical thrasher to the area on his return. They were very involved in he Liberal Church community. John's house was later moved to Stettler by Archie where it remains today.
