OBITUARY: Wetumpka, Alabama.

Howard Ward, 81, of Wetumpka died December 27, 2003. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Woodland, California, and was an army veteran in the 936th Field Auxiliary, during which time he received the Purple Heart. he was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Goeden.

Survivors include his wife and caregiver, Susan Ann Gosvener Ward of Wetumpka; one daughter, Brenda Colquitt and husband Joseph of Wetumpka; one sister, Stella Ackeley of Woodland; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Witter Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 100 of Rogers. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Allen Estep, Preston Estep, Bill Estep, Joe Colquitt, Robbie Slader and Robert McTyre.
