Polly Ruth Brown Shepherd, 57, of Fruitland Park, Florida died Wednesday July 25, 1979, in Lake Community Hospital Leesburg, Florida. Born September 17, 1921, in Carnesville, Franklin County Georgia, to the late A.A. Brown and the late Bertha Peeples Brown Elrod, she lived in Fruitland Park since 1942 moving there from Lyons, Georgia. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park and worked for the Lake County school system at the Fruitland Park Elementary School in the lunchroom. She is predeceased in death by one brother Clyde Brown. Survivors include her husband, James D. of Fruitland Park; four sons, Marvin of Roanoke, Virginia, Horace of Atlanta, Georgia, Tommy and Randy of Fruitland Park, Florida; one daughter, Sherry of Fruitland Park, Florida; two brothers, Ben Brown of Marietta, Georgia, Ace Alexander William Brown of Utah and half brother Bobby Glenn Brown of Toccoa, Georgia; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Higley of Panama City, Florida, Mrs. Rachel Fowler of Decatur, Georgia, two half sister Mrs. Shirley Harbin of Loganville, Georgia, Mrs. Ella Sue Lanford of Forest Park, Georgia; step mother Mrs Martha Ann Brown of Carnesville, Georgia, and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday July 28, 1979 2 p.m. in the Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park, Florida with the Rev Alvin Weston, the Rev Henry A. Guy, and the Rev. Wilbur Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg. She will lie in state at Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park, Florida from 11 a.m. Friday July 27, 1979, until Service time. But was later move to Shiloh Cemetery in Fruitland Park, Florida. Banks Funeral Home in Wildwood, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
