James Daniel Shepherd, 83 of Fruitland Park, Florida died Sunday December 21, 2003 in Leesburg, Florida. Born in Lincolnton, Georgia, October 28, 1920, to late James Evans and Jewel Ethelynn Mumford Shepherd he moved to Fruitland Park, Florida from Lyons, Georgia in 1942. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park, Florida, a veteran of the U.S. Army and served with Company F 2D Ranger Infantry Battalion during WW II a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Blinded Veterans of America. Predeceased by one brother, Charles who passed away Friday December 12, 2003, and one sister Ruth David. first wife Polly Ruth and a second wife Irene Florence. Survived by four sons, Marvin and Randy of Roanoke, Virginia, Tommy of Fruitland Park, Florida, Horace of Lake City, Florida, one daughter Sherry DeHoog of Farmington, New Mexico, three brothers, Jack of Mt. Dora, Florida, Walter of Clarkesville, Tennessee, Mickey of Orlando, Florida, three sisters, Alice Payne of Lakeland, Florida, Norma Jean Doyle of Leesburg, Florida, Betty Hulburt of Okahumpka, Florida, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 P.M., Saturday December 27, 2003 at Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park, Florida, with Carl Smith officiating. Family and friends may call at the Banks/Page Thesus Funeral Home, Wildwood, Florida, on Friday, December 26, 2003 from 6-8 P.M. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery Fruitland Park, Florida.
