On September 25, 1986, police responded to a call for a shooting at the Handy Andy located at 923 S. Presa in San Antonio TX. When police arrived, they found two victims in the parking lot. One victim, 33-year-old Rudy Navarro, died after being transported by EMS to BAMC. The other victim survived.

During the investigation, it was learned that Navarro was walking home with his wife, brother, and friend from the El Pacifico Bar at S. Presa and Pereida. The suspect vehicle, a red Chevy Monte Carlo 2-door (with a green passenger side door) drove by the group and they exchanged words. The suspect vehicle then turned around, came back, and the passenger in the vehicle fired a shotgun at the group, hitting Rudy Navarro and his friend. The suspects were described as two latin males, in their mid 20s, with the shooter described as having curly black hair.

Over the years several leads have been investigated and suspects developed, but not enough evidence has been found to file a case against anyone. Family members have contacted the cold case squad looking for some closure, realizing that the persons responsible for Rudy Navarro's death might not even still be alive. The family is requesting that anyone who might have information on this murder please contact the SAPD Cold Case Squad at 210-207-7635.
